What to ask at a first plastic surgery consultation
A short list of questions that tell you far more than a brochure can.

A good consultation is a two-way conversation. You are assessing the surgeon as much as they are assessing you. These are the questions we hope you will ask us, and any practice you visit.
About the surgeon
Are you certified in plastic surgery, and by whom?
How many times a year do you perform this procedure?
Who will be in the theatre with you, and who will see me afterwards?
About the plan
Ask to see photographs of patients with a similar starting point to yours, and ask what outcomes are realistic. Individual results vary, and a surgeon who tells you otherwise is not being straight with you.
About the cost
A written quote should list the surgeon’s fee, facility fee, anaesthesia and aftercare visits. If it does not, ask why.
Take your time
You should never be pressured to book on the day. A good practice will encourage a second opinion.
Begin
Considered change, planned together.
Start with a private video consultation. A surgeon reviews your goals, answers your questions and tells you honestly whether surgery is the right step.
